The 2nd Hong Kong English Speaking and Performing Contest cum English Benchmark International Collaborations 2024
The "2nd Hong Kong English Speaking and Performing Contest cum English Benchmark International Collaborations 2024", founded by LCP, was successfully held on14 December 2024, with Mr. Red HO, President of the Rotary Club of Kwai Chung, serving as the officiating Guest of Honour. Around 150 students from 36 primary schools across mainland China, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, South Korea and Hong Kong enthusiastically participated to foster international connections in enriching students’ English learning experience.
The competition featured a wide range of themes encompassing literature, film, and music with the aims to promote English Language education and values education. The solo verse speaking competition continued to facilitate English language learning by integrating value education “Empathy”. The singing performances showcased the rich cultures and talents of the students, with the Korean team performing the popular song "A.P.T." alongside classical songs like "Let It Go" and "Count on Me," which brought the audience to a peak of excitement. We also had the pleasure of inviting last year's English solo champion and the LCP Dance Team to be the special guests, which allowed us to immerse in the joyous vibe.
I was delighted that nearly 60 LCP students actively participated as international team ambassador and joined the English training program. Through welcoming participants and organizing the event, they enhanced their English communication skills and demonstrated our hospitality. I was deeply impressed by outstanding performance of the MC, who fluently hosted the international competition and interacted with the audience, truly showcased the students' improvement in English proficiency.
In addition to the international English competition, our international team also visited the “Sky Mirror” and Blue White House at Inspiration Lake, followed by participation in the "Formula Derby Open Hong Kong” at the AsiaWorld-Expo. They carefully studied the relationship between the installation of car parts and speed, and the team even won an award at the event, making it a joyful experience for everyone.
I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the award-winning students and express gratitude to the guest of honor, judges, participating schools, teachers, and parents for their unwavering support of the students in this competition. I hope to see everyone again at the "3rd Hong Kong International English Speaking & Performing Contest"!
