A memorable journey of the Franco-Chinese Student Exchange Programme

Participating in the Franco-Chinese Student Exchange Programme with St. Jean College Pauillac, organized by the founder and patron, the Cazes Family, was an incredible experience. It was my very first time as principal of LCP to embark on a homey trip from 8 to 21 Sept 2024 (14 days) with our old friends since 2007, the Cazes family after the pandemic.

First and foremost, we extend our sincere thanks to the Cazes family for their exceptional hospitality. Their warmth and generosity provided us with a home away from home, making our stay truly memorable. We were also honored to have our school supervisor, Mr. FUNG, accompany us on this journey. We played a video dedicated to the Cazes Family, commemorating Mr. Cazes's contributions and insightful guidance in the exchange program over the past decade. Mr FUNG and I represented LCP to present souvenirs to Ms Marina Cazes, Ms. Isabelle Gamain and Ms. Christine Lhotellier as a gesture of our friendship and gratitude. In return, we received a valuable portrait of Mr Cazes in memorizing his unwavering support in the past years.

The students thrived in the enriching environment provided by the Franco-Chinese Student Exchange Programme. They relished the outdoor learning opportunities, such as the engaging City Hunts in Bordeaux, outdoor learning at Dune of Pilat and group games during picnic time. These experiences not only enhanced their knowledge but also fostered teamwork and friendship with French students.

Cultural learning was also a highlight, with students immersing themselves in traditional Chinese calligraphy classes, performances of Chinese opera and verse speaking. We introduced our French hosts to the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, complete with a delightful riddle games and lanterns, fostering cross-cultural understanding.

In terms of historical learning, our excursions were truly enlightening. Students visited magnificent châteaux, explored local vineyards, toured historic churches and the trip to St. Émilion City. Additionally, our time in Paris allowed students to visit iconic cultural landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum, and the Arc de Triomphe, all of which provided them with a deeper appreciation of France’s architectural and cultural legacy.

Cultural immersion in France was a transformative learning experience that broadens students’ horizons and perspectives. Interacting with French teachers and students provided difference points of view, enriching overall learning process. Our students returned with newfound knowledge, enhanced language skills, and cherished friendships that will last a lifetime.

Once again, thank you to everyone involved for making this exchange a remarkable success. We look forward to welcoming our French friends to Hong Kong this October and continuing to strengthen the bonds we have created.
