A Heartfelt Meeting with the Cazes Family

As the new principal, it was a great pleasure to first meet with our old friends, Mrs Cazes and Marina, the founder and patron of Franco-Chinese Student Exchange Programme, on 29 May 2024. Our school supervisor, Mr. Fung, also came in person to welcome the Cazes family.

Our story goes back to 2007, when we discovered the coincidence of our school's Chinese name仁濟醫院靚次伯紀念中學, and the Cazes family's Chateau Lynch Bages靚次伯酒莊. Since then, The Cazes family has brought together LCP and France School Ensemble Scolaire Saint – Jean for over 17 years of meaningful cultural exchange.

During the school tour, Mrs Cazes and Marina visited the class, the latest STEAM advanced technology, students’ innovative inventions and the English corner designated for Franco-Chinese exchange programme. The eyes of Mrs Cazes were filled with tears when she reviewed the commemorative booklet which recapped our lovely moments with our founder of the exchange programme, Mr Jean-Michel Cazes. We reminisced about our visits to the Chateau, our musical collaborations, the Chinese opera show and the invaluable moments throughout the programme.

After that, we invited the potential participants of the exchange programme to meet up with the Cazes family. The students extended their warm welcome and gave a hand-made knitted scarf, a portrait of Ms Marina and a painting of Eiffel Tower to Mrs Cazes and Marina.

It was a bittersweet reunion, as we have deeply missed Mr. Cazes since his passing. However, the Cazes family's unwavering support and our students' warm welcome have reaffirmed our commitment to carry on his legacy and spirit in this cherished Franco-Chinese friendship.
